'''SETI post-detection community wiki'''

This wiki is a community resource for exploring, learning about, and sharing evidence-based post-detection research. The SETI Post-Detection Hub is based in Scotland, and yet this wiki is collective and intended as a planetary resource, committed to including research and networks from regions often underrepresented in SETI, such as the Global South.
This wiki is a collectively edited resource for research communities working on, learning about, and sharing evidence-based post-detection research. We welcome contributions on SETI post-detection, links to research groups and networks, and reading materials across disciplines, including the natural and social sciences, governance and law, philosophy and ethics, futures studies, anthropology and communication, disaster studies, technology and art-science. '''We welcome contributions including reading materials, creative examples of SETI post-detection, research groups, and resources for all levels of interest.'''
The purpose of the resource is to celebrate foundational post-detection efforts, along with new approaches to uncertain questions and outer space studies in the present day, connecting dots and aiding more joined up responsive thinking on post-detection.

Content of this wiki

  • Bibliography – Builds on the collective work of the SETI Post-Detection Hub, inviting collaborative contributions to grow a rich interdisciplinary collection on SETI Post-Detection, to develop a Post-Detection section for Oman-Reagan et al's SETI Primer
  • Post-Detection Toolkit and Tools - Shared tools and resources for post-detection research and readiness
  • Glossary – Terminology related to SETI and post-detection
  • Workshops – Past and future workshops with a particular emphasis on SETI post-detection themes
  • Teaching - Collection on teaching materials and educational resources about SETI post-detection
  • Multimedia Archive – videos, press, interviews, and various media on SETI post-detection
  • Imaginarium – creative archive, including various forms of art, films, books, and creative scenarios exploring SETI post-detection, also available in gallery view
  • Acknowledgements — Dedication, honouring contributions, thanks and a growing list of researchers and groups engaged in SETI post-detection research

As SETI (the search for extraterrestrial intelligence) and technosignature detection rapidly advance in the 2020s, fresh efforts are underway to explore what events and processes may unfold during and after a confirmed detection. SETI post-detection research is vital for engaging with the societal, ethical, and philosophical dimensions of a discovery of extraterrestrial life. Transdisciplinary, evidence-based research approaches can take up the task of preparing for the speculative societal, legal, ecological, and scientific challenges that may arise, while developing protocol, emergent strategies and imaginative frameworks to meet the unknown.

SETI post-detection community wiki

This wiki is a collectively edited resource for research communities working on, learning about, and sharing evidence-based post-detection research. We welcome contributions on SETI post-detection, links to research groups and networks, and reading materials across disciplines, including the natural and social sciences, governance and law, philosophy and ethics, futures studies, anthropology and communication, disaster studies, technology and art-science.

The purpose of the resource is to celebrate foundational post-detection efforts, along with new approaches to uncertain questions and outer space studies in the present day, connecting dots and aiding more joined up responsive thinking on post-detection.

The shared bibliography is a collective reading list that aims to grow a rich section on SETI Post-Detection for Oman-Reagan et al's SETI Primer. It is is also a living archive intended to widen access. The wiki is open and in process, reflecting the collaborative spirit of a wiki itself. Though the SETI Post-Detection Hub is based in Scotland, this wiki is a planetary resource, committed to including research, networks and perspectives from regions often underrepresented in the Academy, such as the Global South.

As the wiki is emerging, and not meant to be fixed or definitive, there are gaps and many potentials. Missing something? You are warmly invited to add to it: please share your references with the community. You can help this wiki grow by adding references directly in individual bibliography pages, or adding new pages or adding references with their own BibTeX by following Step 2 in the contribution guide.
